Traditionally good, innovatively better: Grüne Woche 2025 showcases trends and topics of the future
From 17 to 26 January, Grüne Woche 2025 will showcase the latest trends in food, agriculture and horticulture. It offers political discussions, future professions and brings the world to your plate
Grüne Woche will open its doors at the Berlin Exhibition Centre from 17 to 26 January 2025. For the 89th time, visitors to the leading international trade fair will be able to experience the multifaceted world of food, agriculture and horticulture. A specialist supporting programme, interactive exhibitions, creative workshops and a varied gourmet offering will provide information about the trends in the industry and invite visitors to join in and enjoy. ‘Grüne Woche 2025 sets new impulses. For ten days, it will be a centre of exchange where experts work together on solutions for a sustainable future. At the same time, the Grüne Woche will once again be an unforgettable experience for all visitors. This is where passion and knowledge come together,’ says Lars Jaeger, Grüne Woche Project Manager.
Hotspot for global trade policy
Grüne Woche traditionally attracts international experts to the capital. For the 17th time in a row, the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) will take place in the CityCube Berlin from 15 to 18 January 2025 under the motto ‘Shaping a sustainable bioeconomy’. The GFFA is the global conference that deals with the future of food and agriculture. It brings together around 2,000 politicians with experts from science, business and civil society to develop solutions for future food security. The political highlight is the Berlin Agriculture Ministers' Conference. On 18 January 2025, around 70 ministers from all over the world will meet at the Berlin Exhibition Grounds. The event is organised by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL), which will also have its own hall at the upcoming Grüne Woche.
The latest trends in agriculture and nutrition
As usual, the non-profit sponsoring organisations will present themselves strongly. The motto ‘Secure food. Protect nature.’ will characterise the Farm Experience, where the German Farmers' Association (DBV) will provide practical insights into current and future challenges in agriculture. The food retail sector will be represented by companies such as the Schwarz Group, Rewe and Edeka. ‘Under the motto “Future tastes good”, the Federation of the German Food Industry (BVE) and the German Food Association invite their guests to the joint stand for an exchange of ideas and interactive formats on current topics in the food industry.
World Tour: Strong presence for Ukraine
Visitors to the Grüne Woche can once again sample their way through the world's largest menu. Five continents will be inviting the curious to try their hand at culinary pioneering - for example, as at the last event, tasting Swedish birch sap, strawberry roses from Estonia or purple corn juice from Peru. Ukraine has also secured its participation in Grüne Woche 2025 with a stand covering 500 square metres. In the popular street food hall, foodies will find avocado liqueur and a new ‘FREE FROM’ exhibition area for the first time. Here, those keen to experiment will find a selection of treats that are free from allergens or animal products. The area offers gluten-free snacks and vegan delicacies.
Federal states: Tourist flair meets regional cuisine
Grüne Woche traditionally offers a variety of regional specialities from Germany - from the well-known Thuringian dumplings to innovative dishes such as roast potatoes with kale pesto from Lower Saxony, which will be presented for the first time in 2025. Visitors can not only experience culinary highlights, but also discover the tourist attractions of the regions. Whether Bavaria's Alps or the fine sandy beaches of Mecklenburg's Baltic coast - various federal states invite you to get to know the country and its people better and awaken the desire to travel across Germany.
grünerleben: Re-Use Superstore back strongly
Visitors can find inspiration for an environmentally conscious lifestyle in the ‘greener living’ theme world. In Hall 27, exhibitors, NGOs and organisations such as the Multi-Talent Wood Initiative, the German Forestry Council, the German Hunting Association, the Agency for Renewable Resources and the Federal Ministry for the Environment will be providing helpful tips and knowledge on resource-saving approaches and responsible action. One highlight is the Re-Use Superstore of the Berlin Senate Environment Administration, which brings together around 25 organisations and companies with sustainable projects and services on waste avoidance, food appreciation, fashion, electronics and more on over 200 square metres. Under the motto ‘Home Green Home’, the Grüne Woche stage next door offers a varied stage programme: live cooking, quiz and talk shows, exciting games and e-sports events as well as the Startup Days ensure a varied experience. Here, start-ups from the agtech and food industry sectors compete against each other with innovative ideas for a sustainable future.
Flower hall with a capital city look
Under the motto ‘Blütenkiez Berlin’, the growers' cooperative Landgard and the initiative “Blumen - 1000 gute Gründe” (Flowers - 1000 good reasons) are giving the flower hall a big city flair. Early bloomers and other colourful flowers transform typical elements of Berlin's residential areas, such as traffic signs or telephone boxes, into floral highlights and inspire ideas for your own four walls. In keeping with this, the ‘Garden, House & Yard’ theme world offers everything you need to beautify your home and garden and make them more sustainable: From garden furniture and plants to barbecues and ecological energy systems.
Organic? Well logo!
Organic Hall 22a presents the organic farming and food industry and its positive influence on biodiversity, climate and animal husbandry. Under the motto ‘Organic? Na Logo!’ exhibitors such as organic farmers, bakeries, beekeepers and winegrowers will provide information about the development of sustainable organic products. Visitors can sample and purchase various organic specialities on site. A digital hall rally also offers exciting organic entertainment.
young generation hub: Sawing, hammering, screwing the future
On their own, as part of a class or together with family or friends, teens can use the Grüne Woche for career guidance. At the young generation hub, over 80 training occupations from the skilled trades are waiting to be discovered. Under the motto ‘Hands-on and hands-on’, young people can saw, hammer and plant for themselves. The training hall offers insights into traditional professions in agriculture and the neighbouring sectors of nutrition, gardening, the hotel and catering industry, construction and air conditioning. Trainees will provide valuable insights into the various professions and experts will be on hand to answer questions about training and careers. The young generation hub will be open from 20 to 24 January 2025 from Monday to Wednesday and Friday from 10 am to 3 pm. The long Thursday from 10 am to 6 pm is new.
