Press Release
A strong start: International visitors return to the capital
DMEA, BUS2BUS and FRUIT LOGISTICA gather visitors from around 130 countries in Berlin
International trade visitors are back in Berlin: Six weeks after coronavirus restrictions were eased throughout Germany, Messe Berlin can look back on a first successful round of three in-house trade fairs which took place in April: What is more, together with Chefs Culinar and WM Werkstattmesse, the first guest events have also returned to the exhibition grounds: There is now keen demand for events until the autumn.
“Messe Berlin is attracting attention from international visitors again. In recent weeks our trade fairs have gathered many visitors in the capital both from Germany and abroad. As well as us, the trade fair company, the main beneficiaries are exhibitors and visitors alike. With these events we are also helping other sectors in Berlin, including stand construction companies, service providers and agencies – as well as the hotel trade and cab companies – to restart business again“, said Martin Ecknig, CEO of Messe Berlin.
DMEA with an impressive restart
From 26 to 28 April the focus of DMEA, Europe’s leading event for digital health, was on the digital transformation of the healthcare system. Around 11,000 visitors, more than 500 exhibitors and over 300 speakers from Germany and abroad attended the Berlin Exhibition Grounds. Participation in DMEA not only returned to former levels but increased too, with attendance four per cent higher than at the last in-person event before the pandemic in 2019.
BUS2BUS 2022: Back to the future
On 27 and 28 April BUS2BUS, the platform for the German and European bus industry and its suppliers, staged a successful reopening of business, bringing some 2,000 high-quality trade visitors together with around 100 exhibitors from 16 countries. Taking place for the third time as an in-person event, the recently established trade fair was able to cement its position on the market and celebrate a world first in this field.
FRUIT LOGISTICA, the leading industry trade fair, comes to a successful conclusion
From 5 to 7 April, the leading trade fair for the global fruit trade was the first in-house event on the exhibition grounds in 2022 and gathered more than 40,000 senior buyers and trade visitors from around 130 countries along with over 2,000 exhibitors from 87 countries. Securing supply chains was among the reasons why the industry urgently needed an in-person FRUIT LOGISTICA to take place – that was the positive verdict of exhibitors and visitors after the conclusion of FRUIT LOGISTICA.
Keen demand for events
In May the focus will be mainly on guest events, with numerous international trade fairs taking place throughout the entire month. ILA Berlin 2022 (22 – 26 June 2022) is a further highlight on the trade fair calendar. For the first time, Innovation and Leadership in Aerospace Berlin (ILA) is taking place on the newly opened grounds of BER Airport. After a four-year break, the German Aerospace Industries Association (BDLI) and the organisers Messe Berlin GmbH are expecting an international audience of trade visitors, high-ranking political figures and large numbers of the general public to be there in Berlin.
The Messe Berlin event calendar has an overview of all the events due to take place in the upcoming months.
